Classes at Asturias Yoga Shala.

Throughout all of 2021 we will be offering Guided Ashtanga classes open to the public.  Please contact us or ask to join our local-students group to become informed about upcoming class times and availability.

The Ashtanga yoga series is composed of a dynamic sequence of movements that at once strengthens and balances the body and mind alike. This particular style of yoga asana is recommended for those who have good physical condition and no spinal or neck injuries 

Mysore Style

In Ashtanga yoga, Mysore Style sessions are held in silence. Practitioners move through the series up till the point where they can perform the posture with confidence. The teacher´s role includes:

  •  Aiding students in their allignment
  • Quietly offering personal guidance when necessary
  • Give beginner students an introduction to the Primary Series
  • Noting when a student is ready to move on to the next posture in the sequence, and subsequently offering him or her instruction about how to correctly and safely perform this posture.

  At Asturias Yoga Shala, Mysore style practices begin together as a group, but occasionally some students will finish and leave before others. Although this style of practice may innitially seem odd to beginners or those accustomed to guided yoga classes, Mysore style is the classical way of learning and practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa. It is therefore recommended for all levels. Please contact us or ask to join our local-students group to become informed about upcoming class times and availability.

Personal or Group

  • These classes are designed for individuals, pairs, or groups of up to eight to schedule by appointment.  Those who are seeking a more personalized approach to learning are good candidates for this class option. Private classes may include the following the following:
  • Ashtanga Primary or Intermediate Series
  • Attention to Special Conditions 
  • Ayurvda
  • Meditation.

Whether your intention is to intensify the level at which you are practising; get ample amounts of  hands-on instruction; or to receive special attention due to past or current injuries, these sessions are available to meet your needs.  We also recommend this option for groups of five or more, as space can be limited at our weekly public classes. We accept no more than eight participants per personal group in order to give ample attention to all persons in attendance.

  • 12 euro/Class
  • BONO: 45 euro/5 classes

Personalized

  • Individual: 40 euro/1.5hr
  • After one person, 10/additional person
  • BONO, individual: 150 euro/5 classes

Classes are held in our yoga shala and last approximately one and a half hours. We recommend arriving fifteen minutes or so beforehand in order to meet the teachers and settle into the space before the session begins.
