Food & Accommodation

Asturias Yoga Centre is a restored, self-sufficient mountain hamlet amidst a hazelnut, oak, chestnut and holly trees. It is 100% off-grid, powered entirely by solar panels and heated by firewood collected from fallen trees. Once upon a time, shepherds would use this cluster of cottages and land as a rest and grazing stop on their way to the high picos. Throughout the process of restoring this hamlet, our aim has been to do so in collaboration with the surrounding environment and protecting the precious simplicity of the space. Our on site accommodation for yoga students comprises two stone built mountain cabins, and furnished Bell Tents set in an enchanted meadow overlooking the Gueña Valley.

Rooms with Shared Facilities

Our main accommodation is situated right next door to the shala. It accommodates up to 4 people. Outside of our retreat calendar, it may be reserved as a Yoga B&B.

Bell Tents

Our bell tents are for nature lovers. These large canvas tents are situated in a meadow on a spectacular mountain ridege with views of the Picos de Europa and Gueña valley.  The tents come with comfortable mattresses. Facilities are rustic and comprise a compost toilet and outdoor solar shower, however those who choose the tent may also utalize facilities in the cabin.

Offsite Accommodation

We also offer non accommodation prices if you prefer to arrange your own accommodation. If you are interested, ask us about village en-suite rooms just 1.5km from the center, or if you are after a touch of elegance and traditional charm, we recommend the Casona de Con, a boutique rural hotel 7km away.  The campsite, “Camping Picos de Europa” is located 1km down the hill

Vegetarian Food at Asturias Yoga

We provide 3 vegetarian meals per day: breakfast, lunch and a light dinner. We realize that the best flavour and nutrition comes out of seasonal, local produce, so do our best to seek out products from local growers, including Asturias Yoga´s organic garden. We prioritize organic and vegan ingredients, and provide many home-made specialties, such as sourdough breads, spicy chai, nettle pesto, local honey, mountain spring water, fresh herbs for infusions, and jams from our own fruit trees. Meals are designed for their balanced nutritionally, their digestibility and overall sustainability.

If you are someone who traditionally has a large appetite or prefers multiple snacks throughout the day, you may also bring your own food/snacks to supplement. The closest large supermarkets are in Cangas de Onis or Posada, both approximately 20km away.  There are various smaller shops nearby in Benia (2km from the yoga center) and at the “Campsite Picos de Europa” (1km down hill from the yoga center).
